| Matthew J. Christian practices primarily in commercial litigation, with an emphasis on public construction and surety bond claims. In litigation and arbitration, he has represented various public entities and sureties in complex construction matters involving cost overruns, design issues, delay claims, and contractor defaults. |
| Mr. Christian's practice also emphasizes appellate work. He has represented appellants, appellees, and amici curiae in various matters involving civil procedure, arbitration, surety law, bad faith, mechanics' liens, and general construction law. |
| A Chicago native, Mr. Christian is a 1992 graduate of the University of Illinois. He attended the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he was a member of the law review. He graduated magna cum laude in December 2002. |
| Prior to and during law school, Mr. Christian enjoyed a successful career in the Las Vegas convention and incentive travel industry, serving as the international sales manager for the nation's largest destination management company, as well as the special services manager for the largest Grand Canyon air tour provider. As an active member of the International Special Events Society and the Destination Services Association, Mr. Christian maintains a close relationship with local businesses in the incentive travel industry and regularly provides them advice on contracting, dispute resolution, and employment issues. |
| Mr. Christian is a co-chair of the Young Professionals Section of the Fidelity and Surety Subcommittee of the ABA's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. He publishes and speaks regularly on topics involving general contract law, public construction, and suretyship in Nevada. In the fall of 2007, Mr. Christian will begin serving as an adjunct legal writing professor at his alma mater. |
